The penultimate day already – can you believe it? Still, there are two days to squeeze in as much as possible and the first of today’s picks really does allow you to squeeze in some of the most unexpected sights at the festival.
Here are a few selections to get your day started in theatre & circus:
An Evening with Rimski & Handkerchief plus special guests – Rimski’s Yard – 10pm
“There’s more vaudeville music from the wonderful Old Time Rags with their banjo, double bass, washboard and drums, as well as some twelve-bar blues followed by Daniel Gonzales’ mime act is a hit. Holy Rose performs an aerial rope show backed by the night’s house band, the Dead Horse Band, while another performer takes also to the sky for an acrobatic show. You feel like anything can and will happen in this immersive environment that sends you back to another time and another world.”
Degna Stone – Poetry&Words – 6:28pm
Degna Stone is an award-winning poet and poetry editor based in northeast England whose debut collection, Proof of Life on Earth, was published in 2022. She’s told us that she’s “excited and nervous. But mostly excited.” We are too. Liz Berry described Stone as a “spellbinding poet: passionate, political and precise.”
Basil Brush: Unleashed – Cabaret Tent – 11:30pm
“Boom, Boom!” – yes, it’s Basil the Brush in a special show for adults. Following a day of keeping the children of Kidzfield happy, Basil is unleashed in the Cabaret tent with co-host Martin Cabble-Reid in a show strictly for adults. Expect the unexpected!
Lekiddo – Lord of the Lobsters! – The Gateway – 2pm
Lekiddo holds a kind of cult following at Glastonbury and we reviewed an ‘indescribable’ set on The Gateway at last year’s festival. It might not be to everyone’s taste but clearly there is something attractive about the Lord of the Lobster’s approach to audience participation. Give it a go, you might find yourself surprised.
