A Pinch of Vault Week Four: Picks of the Week

VAULT’s festival of live work-in-progress shows, A Pinch of VAULT, returns for a third year showcasing new works from leading independent performance makers taking place at The Glitch and venues across Waterloo and Bankside from 12th February – 10th March.

We take a look at some of the highlights of week four:

Vicious Cycle

Poet and comedian Pete Strong (our Fringe Pick of the Year for 2023 with his show Greenfinch) performs stand up then gets on his bike. Drunk, angry, full of self-loathing and regret; veering through traffic, his past mistakes, and many regrets, it will take all his energy to finally get home safely. Poems, stories and jokes from a life lived at full pelt, head down, and to hell with the carnage caused. Can he get home? Can he find peace?

At The Spacement at the Glitch on 10 March

Jukebox, The Musical

You may well have forgotten 80s musical diva The Gorgeous Diva but that’s never stopped her before. Now she’s back with a jukebox musical featuring all of her hit (sic). Sing along to classics such as ‘Love hurts when eagles fly’, and ‘Havin’ your baby, not gonna keep it’, then stay for the really good plot. One that’s at least half as good as ‘We Will Rock You.’ This musical character comedy show by Jay Bennett should be a whole lot of fun

Mattia Sedda: CHOIN

Mattia Sedda is an actor and a clown with no awards won and one TV credit who is very proud of. A super highly trained actor, rejected by the norms of the British entertainment industry, will try his hardest to recreate the magic of the old theatre with his absurd craft. Is he going to succeed? Only one way to find out…

The Little Ritual

If you were once the spookiest vampire of all time but had lost your powers, what would you do to get them back? The Master and Gregor, the not-so-spooky vampires, embark on a journey to rediscover their spookiness through play, laughter and family fun. This show is not just a comedy but a heartwarming tale of friendship, self-discovery and the importance of embracing your unique, silly self. The interactive show encourages audience participation, with every performance a unique opportunity for your family to create lasting memories. Join in the games, dance to the music and maybe even get the chance to be a part of the show.

At The Spacement at the Glitch on 8 and 9 March

Nathan Cassidy: International Man of Mestory

Nathan Cassidy is a multi-award winning comedian and star of Amazon Prime Comedy Specials ‘Observational’. ‘Fifty’ and ‘Bumblebee’. Nathan was the only live performer at the Edinburgh Fringe 2020 after being nominated for Best Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival the same year, and his show Bumblebee was a total sell out at the Edinburgh Fringe 2021 and was nominated for 3 awards in 2021 including an Off West End Stage Award. His new show is time-freezing new standup show – it’s time to unfreeze the past.

At Sino Thai on 9 March

Dee Allum

Get in early with an hour of new material from comedian Dee Allum in this work-in-progress show. Dee was a finalist in the 2022 BBC New Comedy Award competition and started her comedy career performing sketches with the Cambridge Footlights.
