The cast for Ché Walker’s Burnt-Up Love, which opens at the Finborough Theatre for a four-week season on 29 October, has been announced. The production features Joanne Marie Mason as Scratch, Alice Walker as JayJayJay and Ché Walker, who also directs, as Mac.
Described as “a fairytale from the inner city,” the play follows Mac who plans to make amends to his little girl having paid his debt to society, only to find that his little girl and her girlfriends have found themselves in trouble.
Walker, who was described by theatre critic Michael Billington as “the laureate of Camden Town,” has a long history with Finborough, having previously directed six productions at the theatre. His writing includes Been So Long, Flesh Wound and Crazy Love and he has seen his plays performed by Sophie Okonedo and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
