Current Theatre503 CEO and Artistic Director, Lisa Spirling has been announced as the new Artistic Director and joint CEO of Stratford East, it has been announced.
Spirling takes up the role in spring 2025, taking over from Nadia Fall who is stepping down to take up the position of Artistic Director at the Young Vic from December 2024 where she replaces Kwame Kwei-Armah.
Talking about the appointment, Spirling said she was “thrilled to be joining Stratford East as it embarks on its 140th year of making ground-breaking theatre for the borough of Newham, London, and the nation.”
Spirling has been Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Theatre503 since 2016. Under her tenure, the theatre has staged more first-time writers than any other theatre in the country, in addition t supporting emerging directors.
In 2023, Spirling was included in The Stage 100 for her impact at Theatre503.
